ELKHART A state investigation into three Elkhart police officers has been handed over to the Elkhart County Prosecutor's office, according to The Elkhart Truth.

Veteran officers Bruce Anglemeyer, James Ballard and Karl Miller shot and killed 27-year-old Jaime Benavidez during a burglary in September. The officers claim Benavidez pointed a gun first, which prompted them to act in self-defense.

The county prosecutor will look at the state police report, and then decide whether or not to file charges against the officers.
