SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- Notre Dame has a new commencement speaker.
Rev. Dr. Ray Hammond, a leader in youth and community outreach, will speak at the May 18 ceremony.
Hammond entered Harvard College at age 15, earned his bachelor's degree by 19 and medical degree by 23.
He's the founder of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, and has spent years working to combat street violence in Boston.
Hammond replaces previously announced speaker Christopher Patten, University of Oxford Chancellor.
Patten said this week he is withdrawing from several appearances for health reasons.
