Notre Dame alum killed in Afghanistan plane crash

A Notre Dame alum is one of four people killed in a plane crash in Afghanistan over the weekend.

2005 graduate Reid Nishizuka died, according to the Notre Dame Alumni Association's Facebook page.

According to Hawaii News Now, he graduated from Kailua High School in 2000 and then earned an aeronautical engineering degree from Notre Dame.

The plane crash happened near Kandahar airfield on Saturday. The three others who were killed were from Virginia, California and Kentucky.

Meantime, five of seven people who died in a plane crash in Afghanistan on Monday, were from Michigan.

The plane crashed just after take-off, but the cause hasn't yet been determined.

It was a civilian flight, carrying vehicles and other cargo.

Of the 7 people killed, four were pilots, two were mechanics, and one was a load master.

The names of those victims haven't been released, but their families have been notified.
