Influenza has long been making headlines, with 40 deaths already reported in Indiana this season.
Now the so-called stomach flu is beginning to spread -- this one caused by a new strain of norovirus that most people haven't built up immunity to.
The State Department of Health says symptoms of this norovirus are cramps, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, as well as some influenza symptoms like fever and headache.
In comparison, influenza is usually accompanied by a cough and sore throat, and muscle aches.
Norovirus spread in much the same way -- through germs. Be sure to wash hands and all kitchen and bathroom surfaces.
Flu shots won't protect against the norovirus.
