Millions of people across the globe have inadequate footwear, or simply no shoes at all.
“There's kids all over the world that don't have shoes it's not just for comfort, it’s for wellness,” said Tim Wray, manager at Tradehome Shoes.
To raise awareness of the global health issue, Tradehome Shoes in the University Park Mall went barefoot to celebrate its annual “One Day Without Shoes” event.
“We're getting a lot of weird looks, I’m hoping it's not the way my feet look and that I don't have shoes on,” said Wray, “It puts a smile on their faces and for some of them it’s the first pair of shoes they've ever owned.”
The store partners with Toms, a brand that gives a pair of shoes to someone in need for every pair that is purchased. Toms donates shoes in over 50 countries.
