Three Elkhart officers involved in a police action shooting will stay on paid leave, as an internal investigation is under way.

Monday, a county grand jury upheld the actions of Cpl. Jason Ray, patrolman Jason Gruber, and patrolman Daniel Mayer in an incident last fall.

The officers shot and killed Christopher Ryckeart, 31 after Ryckeart tried to back a truck into them.

According to our reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth, the officers can return to work once their case is reviewed by the internal affairs office of the Elkhart police.
