Elkhart County, Ind. Elkhart County officials hope new left turn traffic signals will help cut down crashes at one intersection.
According to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, the signal was installed at the intersection of county roads 17 and 18.
That site was chosen because of the number of crashes that happen there.
There were 14 in 2012 and 26 this year.
Many of the crashes involved drivers who didn't yield, and happened at night.
The new signal has a flashing yellow arrow that replaces a round green light that signals when drivers need to yield to oncoming traffic.
