New Year’s Day will mean a later trash pickup for South Bend residents.
There will be no trash pickup in the city of South Bend Tuesday because cleanup crews have the holiday off. They will resume pickups on Wednesday with Tuesday’s normal routes, pushing the rest of the week’s pickup schedule back one day. Trash should be put out at the same time of day pickup is normally scheduled, but only a day later.
Come Tuesday many people will be disposing of Christmas trees and there is a way to do so without any extra cost. There will be tree drop offs between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Rum Village Park, Pinhook Park and Veterans Memorial Park located on Twyckenham, or an early pickup can be scheduled by calling 235-9244.
Automatic Christmas tree pickup will start on the Northeast side of the city starting Monday, Jan. 7 and will continue in a clockwise route through the city until January 18.
