South Bend You certainly had a mix of road conditions Wednesday. Some streets were perfectly plowed while others looked like they had yet to be touched making for very slippery conditions.
Crews have been working around the clock to get those roads as clear and safe as possible, before another round of snow hits, but they certainly weren't the only ones working to clear snow Wednesday.
“When I heard the forecast I figured we would probably have to do some shoveling. I would certainly much rather be doing some other things,” says South Bend Resident Benjamin Cashman. “My grandson lives with us. He was supposed to do the snow blowing, but today is his birthday so I am trying to be nice to him and not impose a lot on him today to do the snow. So, some of this may not get done until tomorrow”.
For others, the snow isn’t that bad.
“It’s not a big deal. It’s beautiful, it’s like a white Christmas all over again,” says another South Bend Resident Rob Becht. “I am just snow blowing the sidewalks for the block. That’s what I do when we get lots of snow. I bought this expensive blower a couple years ago; why not take it out for a run”.
For others who were out shoveling, it’s more like a chore
“I was already up. They just said ‘hey, go out and shovel’”, says 15-year-old Sean Sanford.
Sanford says he doesn't mind shoveling especially because you get fresh air. When more snow comes, as expected Wednesday night, it may be a little frustrating.
“Because I have been out here this whole time shoveling and then I will have to go out next time and shovel, again,” Sanford continues.
About four inches of snow fell around the area from Tuesday night to Wednesday afternoon.
