ANGOLA, Ind. (AP) A northeastern Indiana man faces neglect charges stemming from a yearlong investigation into the death of a 3-month-old child.
An arrest warrant was served Friday on 37-year-old Chad Traster at the Steuben County Jail, where he was being held on unrelated charges. The Angola man remained held without bond Saturday at the jail.
The Journal Gazette reports that what began as a child abuse investigation in November 2012 turned into a death investigation after the baby died.
The Steuben County Sheriff's Department said the cause of the child's death was later determined to be unrelated to the original injuries reported to police.
The case was investigated by county police, the Steuben and Marion county coroners, State Police and the state Department of Child's Services.
