The leader of a northern Indiana county's charitable foundation says a late businessman's $150 million donation to his hometown has spurred even more contributions.
The Elkhart County Community Foundation has received much of the donation from insurance executive David Gundlach's estate that was announced in August, boosting it to about $185 million
Foundation president Pete McCown tells the Elkhart Truth (http://bit.ly/ToUovx ) that gifts from a pair of other estates will soon add $10 million and a couple is planning a $1 million donation.
McCown says that rather than suppressing donations, Gundlach's gift has led to more generosity.
McCown says the foundation's board has been working to make decisions on how to allocate grants from the donation.
Gundlach grew up in Elkhart and died last year in California at age 56.
