Motorcyclist injured in crash under railroad viaduct

South Bend, Ind. A woman is recovering from multiple injuries after a crash underneath the railroad viaduct at W. Western Ave. and S. Walnut St. in South Bend. The collision happened Sunday around 9:30 p.m.

The 45 year-old motorcycle driver was headed westbound on W. Western Ave. as a four-door car was traveling northbound on W. Walnut St.

The two collided, leaving the motorcycle driver bloodied on the ground with broken bones.

Both the woman and the South Bend police officer on site reported that the driver of the car attempted to leave the scene. However, that driver eventually listened to police and stayed at the scene of the crash.

Paramedics took the biker to Memorial Hospital where she is recovering.
