Mother of fallen LaPorte H.S. football player asking schools for more testing

LaPorte County, Ind. A LaPorte County mom is on mission, after her son died unexpectedly during football practice in September.

Julie Schroeder's son, Jake West, was 17 when he collapsed at LaPorte High School.

Doctors say he had an undetected heart condition, that leaves the heart unable to pump blood.

Now, Schroeder wants schools to require EKG's along with hearing, vision and scoliosis screenings to help detect issues and prevent other deaths.

Schroeder's family recently underwent screenings themselves, and Jake's sister, Courtney, was also diagnosed with a heart problem.
