More than 1,000 show up for 'Music in the Gardens'

South Bend, Ind. The Center for History and 88.1 WVPE radio co-hosted Music in the Gardens tonight.

Folks braved the stormy weather and came out to listen to some tunes in the historic Oliver Gardens at the Center for History.

Luckily, the rain stopped, so the community was able to enjoy brats, popcorn and drinks, while a local band performed.

The Whistle Pigs played a variety of songs for the crowd.

The audience was tapping their toes, some even got up to dance.

The event was a fun and inexpensive way for many to spend their Friday night.

WVPE station manager Ethan Hunt estimates around 1,200 people came out to the event.

Their record attendance is about 1,600 people.
