COLUMBUS, Ind.--- Authorities say a Michigan man has disappeared underwater after a kayak accident on a southern Indiana river.

Indiana Conservation Officer Jet Quillen says local and state police searched Sunday for 27-year-old Enrique Quinonez of Kalamazoo, Mich., after his kayak capsized on the Flatrock River at Columbus, about 40 miles south of Indianapolis.

Quillen says Quinonez wasn't wearing a life jacket and could not swim.

Quillen says Quinonez' kayak capsized a short time after he and a friend launched their boats on the river Sunday morning. The friend pulled Quinonez to a tree, but he lost his grip and went underwater. His friend made his way to shore and went for help.
