Michiana businesses celebrate Small Business Saturday

SOUTH BEND - You’ve heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday but did you another retail holiday is nestled in between?

Today is Small Business Saturday.

It’s a movement created by American Express to encourage people to shop local.

Communities like South Bend, Granger, Niles and Mishawaka are all participate in the celebration.

South Bend stores also have a variety of deals and promotions going on this weekend.

Seventy-three cents of every dollar spent at a local store remains in the community. This is compared to the 43 cents cities keep if you shop at a national chain and the 0 cents kept when you purchase things online.
