Wintery weather may have taken over Michiana, but inside South Bend’s Century Center the Michiana Boat and Sports Show hopes to remind people of warm weather activities.
More than 100 boats are on display, from runabouts to pontoons and kayaks. But the event offers more than just nautical eye-candy for adults, the show brought back a fishing pond for kids.
According to Dale Brindley, one of the organizers of the Michiana Boat and Sports Show, “We brought back the fishing pond for the kids, we have a trout pond in here, it’s about 1,800 gallons of water stocked with 500 rainbow trout. It’s a free catch and release fishing pond for the children.”
The cost of entry is $3 for adults, and free for children under 12.
The $3 entry fee will be donated back to the Michiana Walleye Association to keep stocking the St. Joseph river, and help fund an annual scholarship for a high school senior in the area.
The boat show is open from 9:00 a.m until 9:00 p.m on Saturday and 9:00 a.m until 3:00 p.m on Sunday.
