Republican Sen. John McCain is coming to Indianapolis this week to campaign for Senate candidate Richard Mourdock.

The visit by the 2008 GOP presidential nominee is among campaign events by high-profile Republicans being planned in hopes of boosting Mourdock in his tight race against Democrat Joe Donnelly.

McCain is scheduled to attend a Mourdock fundraising breakfast Wednesday in Indianapolis. Mourdock spokesman Brose McVey says that McCain will then take part in a roundtable discussion with business people on the economy.

A Mourdock rally with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is scheduled for Wednesday evening in Merrillville and Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is scheduled for an Oct. 22 fundraiser in Indianapolis.

Former President Bill Clinton campaigned for Donnelly last week at a rally in Indianapolis.
