Conservation officers say a Bloomington man staged his own shooting at McCormick's Creek State Park.

Forty-three-year-old Peter Raventos bonded out of the Owen County Jail in Spencer on Monday after being charged with felonious obstruction of justice and misdemeanor false informing.

Officers say evidence including bungee cords and fishing line suggests Raventos rigged a shotgun to shoot himself from a distance. Divers recovered a 20-gauge shotgun linked to Raventos from the White River.

Raventos told officers he was shot in the back by an unknown assailant June 25 while walking along a trail at the park about 45 miles southwest of Indianapolis. He was treated for wounds from more than 20 shotgun pellets.

Raventos doesn't have a published telephone listing and it's not clear if he has an attorney.
