DENVER, Ind. (AP) - A northern Indiana sheriff says a homeowner fatally shot a man who broke into the home.
Miami County Sheriff Tim Miller says 30-year-old Donny Sturgill of Peru died in the shooting Saturday night in the rural home near the town of Denver, about 75 miles north of Indianapolis.
Miller says investigators found signs of forced entry into the residence, and the unidentified homeowner claims to have shot Sturgill in self-defense.
The Kokomo Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1kQm5xC ) Sturgill was arrested by deputies last year for allegedly stabbing a Denver man in the chest and face. He was arrested again in March on charges of domestic battery and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
