Man accused of beating puppies to appear in court Monday

South Bend, Ind. The man accused of beating three puppies to death is expected in court Monday.

Joseph Perry, 38, faces multiple counts of mutilating an animal.

The remains of three puppies were discovered in August, behind Perry's home on Ironwood Road in South Bend.

Perry was nowhere to be found at the time of the discovery, but later turned himself in after police issued a warrant for his arrest.

He then told police, and even went on camera with us, saying he was out of town when the puppies died.

Perry told police he left the dogs in the care of a friend, but hadn't been able to contact him.
