One South Bend resident is on a bit of a lucky streak, winning the lottery twice in two months.
Arnie Horowitz won $134,000 playing Cash Five on the December 26th lottery drawing. His luck did not end in December, on January 18th he discovered he won again. The prize the second time around was only $25,000 but still more than many people who play the lottery walk away with.
Lottery officials presented the retired teacher with a giant ceremonial check to mark his winnings. Horowitz is the fifth player to win the Cash Five Jackpot so far.
For Horowitz, playing the lottery takes a little strategy, "Three of the numbers were birthdays and two of the numbers were numbers I play on the casino in roulette. Now I'm scared to even buy tickets….it's embarrassing. People are going to think this is fixed.”
He says he plans to spend his winnings to pay off his house, put some money into retirement and just maybe take a trip to Las Vegas.
Anyone else interested in in getting a taste of the lottery fever can buy a ticket for Saturday’s Powerball jackpot of $100 million.
