Low water tower levels raise concerns about fires

A central Indiana fire department says it will request tanker trucks from nearby departments as soon as a fire is reported because dry weather has left a water tower far below needed levels.

The White River Township Fire Department says the area water tower has just 13 percent of the water it should have. The Daily Journal reports (http://bit.ly/Qw72Hd ) that dry conditions brought on by weeks without rain make the situation more dangerous.

Bargersville has asked residents to limit lawn watering and keep
sprinklers off on weekends and holidays to ensure other water tanks
have adequate supply. Utilities Superintendent Michael Davis says
that order may become mandatory if water levels don't increase.

Johnson County hasn't seen rain in nearly three weeks.
