4 out of the 5 people charged in a stabbing rampage, met their new judges Tuesday and are just months away from the start of their trials.
47-year-old Walter Neely, 21-year-old Khawana Lamar, 19-year-old Lee Griffin, 18-year-old Nate Coley and 17-year-old Gemari Cotton were arrested and accused of breaking into a home and stabbing five people in South Bend back in December.
Felony murder charges were added after one of the victims, Sandra Price, who was 67, died of severe blood loss from stab wounds to her neck.
All of the defendants had initial hearings Tuesday in front of their new judges. Cotton stood before Judge Chamblee, Coley stood before Judge Jane Miller, Neely stood before Judge Frese and Lamar stood before Judge Marnocha.
One of the defendants did not appear Tuesday. Lee Griffin will have his status hearing tomorrow morning and will stand before Judge Chamblee.
Cotton's trial date is scheduled for May 13, 2013, Coley's trial date is scheduled for April 29, 2013, Lamar's is scheduled for June 10, 2013 and Neely's is scheduled for April 29, 2013
