Indiana authorities have temporarily suspended the medical licenses of two pain management doctors over their prescribing practices.

The Indiana Medical Licensing Board suspended the licenses of Dr. Lea Marlow of Jeffersonville and Dr. William Hedrick of Fort Wayne until the board meets again on Jan. 24.

The Indiana attorney general's office says Marlow this year has given more than 8,000 prescriptions to nearly 3,500 patients at her cash-only clinic, and nearly all of them received addictive oxycodone.

The office accused Hedrick of unsafe drug-mixing practices and unusually high use of pain killer prescriptions. It says several of his patients have died from drug toxicity.

Hedrick's attorney tells WANE-TV he denies the state's charges but agreed to the suspension. A call to Marlow's clinic in Jeffersonville went unanswered Thursday evening.
