INDIANAPOLIS State lawmakers are returning to Indianapolis for one day to look at overriding Gov. Mike Pence's veto of a local tax measure.

The Indiana General Assembly plans to meet Wednesday afternoon for its "technical correction day." Lawmakers will also take up grammatical and technical fixes to laws they approved earlier this year.

Pence wrote a letter to lawmakers Monday asking them to sustain his veto. But Republican Senate President Pro Tem David Long and Republican House Speaker Brian Bosma are pushing firmly for an override. Pence says the measure amounts to a tax increase. But Long and Bosma say it corrects a mistake made in Pulaski and Jackson counties.

A simple majority of at least 51 representatives and 26 senators is all that is needed to overturn a veto.
