LaPaz fire to use federal grant on new rescue equipment

LAPAZ The LaPaz Fire Department has big plans for a grant from the Department of Homeland Security.

The fire chief says the $4,000 award will be used to buy a new rescue saw and blades. WKVI reports that firefighters will be able to use the blades to cut ventilation holes into houses that are on fire.

They also plan to buy safer equipment for use in auto entrapment rescues.

The grant was made possible by a Secure Indiana license.
