Former Notre Dame administrator Jim Roemer dies


The father of former Indiana congressman Tim Roemer has died.

James Roemer was well known in community, having served as general counsel, dean of students and director of community relations at Notre Dame. Roemer received his undergraduate degree from Notre Dame in 1951 and law degree in 1955.

He retired from the university in 2002 but stayed active in the community on several boards.

He died Sunday in California after a brief illness. He was 83.

A mass to celebrate Jim's life will be held at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2013, with a reception to follow at the Morris Inn on campus.
