An Indianapolis man has pleaded guilty to arson charges in a 2011 fire that killed his girlfriend's mother and her quadriplegic son.

WISH-TV reports that Gary Allen pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of arson in exchange for prosecutors dropping two murder charges he had faced. His sentencing is set for July 11.

Allen was arrested days after the fatal May 2011 fire at the Indianapolis house where he was living. After the blaze he told media he hoped whoever was responsible would go to prison "for the rest of their life."

Court documents say Allen started the fire by lighting a mattress on the porch on fire.

Investigators said the family was being evicted and a dispute between the family and the landlord prompted Allen's actions.
