The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has a lot riding on a $5 million fundraising drive that's scheduled to end Feb. 3.

The symphony says it has raised $3.2 million as of Tuesday. The Indianapolis Business Journal says symphony could be forced to reopen contract talks with the musicians it locked out for five weeks last fall if it misses the $5 million goal.

The symphony and musicians union have agreed to a five-year contract that would kick in if the fundraising goal is met. The deal reduces musicians' pay and the number of weeks of performances.

The $5 million target is almost as much as the symphony raises in a typical year.

ISO board president Martha Lamkin says she's confident the symphony will meet its goal.
