Indiana offers no-smoking toolkits for businesses

The Indiana State Department of Health is offering toolkits to businesses to help them adapt to the new Indiana Smoke Free Air Law that takes effect Sunday.

The law will prohibit smoking in all businesses except for private clubs, bars, casinos and retail tobacco shops.

State Health Commissioner Gregory Larkin says switching to a smoke-free business requires planning and education and the toolkits can help businesses get ready.

Items in the toolkits include an employee training guide, a checklist, a quick reference brochure, window clings, and coasters, posters and table tents

Businesses covered by the policy must post signs stating "smoking is prohibited within eight feet of this entrance" or use similar language. Signs must be visible at each public entrance.
