The Indiana State Fair is preparing to open the books on whether this year's fair rebounded from the financial hit the event took after last year's deadly stage collapse.

The State Fair Commission and the State Fair Board hold a joint meeting Thursday to release their 2012 revenue report.

Officials had hoped last year's fair attendance would hit $1 million for the first time, but that was before stage rigging collapsed just before a scheduled Sugarland concert on Aug. 13, 2011, killing seven people and injuring dozens more. Several big concerts and other events subsequently were canceled.

Last year's fair drew about 872,000 visitors, down 8 percent from 2010. The attendance drop helped cut the fair's overall 2011 revenue to $8.4 million, down from nearly $12 million the year before.
