Unemployment for Black men over the age of 16 has increased 99-percent over the past decade.
That statistic, and many more, was shared today by the South Bend chapter of the Indiana Black Expo. The latest report on the status of Blacks in the Hoosier State also indicates that 54-percent of all Black children live in poverty.
Dawn Jones, notes the less-than-picturesque vision of Blacks in Indiana saying, “we need to work on employing both parents and youth when you look at all the data together it paints a picture and It's not just a picture against the youth it's a picture that involves the whole family, what's going on with the whole family.”
Despite these numbers, the report did show an increase in the number of Black third grade students who passed the I-Step test.
