EATON, Ind. (AP) - Residents in a small east-central Indiana town which had gone more than two decades without a homicide say they're stunned following two killings in little more than a month.

Delaware County police are investigating a man's January shooting death and Thursday's fatal stabbing of another man in the town of Eaton about 5 miles north of Muncie.

Eaton resident Melissa Wilkey tells The Star Press she's lived in the town of less than 2,000 residents her entire life and says "the whole community has been stunned" by the two killings.

The killings were Eaton's first since February 1991, when 31-year-old Daniel Barker was stabbed 47 times and thrown into the Mississinewa River. Three teenagers were later convicted for their roles in the events leading to Barker's death.
