Icy roads lead to a slippery morning commute in Cass County

The warmer temps melted some of the residual snow yesterday, but refreezing overnight made black ice a concern for drivers in Cass County Wednesday morning.

Police say slippery streets caused multiple accidents across the area as people started on their morning commutes.

One driver heading east on Redfield St. near the state line hit a patch of black ice and lost control of his vehicle. Officials say after the man crashed into a brick mailbox he continued to slide until his vehicle hit a tree.

The accident was cleared up quickly, and no one was injured, but police are advising people to exercise caution and look out for ice on the roads.
