EVANSVILLE, Ind. Officials expect classes for all four higher education institutions affiliated with the Indiana University School of Medicine-Evansville to begin at the new health science education campus by August 2017.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports programs will be announced next month and a letter of intent will be signed by the four higher education institutions: IU, the University of Southern Indiana, University of Evansville and Ivy Tech Community College.

The IU School of Medicine's current Evansville program, at the University of Southern Indiana, serves students for only their first two years. IU wants to create a site that would allow students to finish their medical education in Evansville and offer residency opportunities at nearby hospitals.
