It was all about those first impressions at the IU South Bend Career Fair Wednesday afternoon. This time, there was a special focus on those who have served our country.
Job seekers packed into the Student Activities Center. The first hour of the fair was open exclusively to veterans and current members of the armed forces.
Dozens of employers were on hand hoping to find future staffers. And, for those who have fought for our country, the chance to mingle with employers goes a long way.
“It is a big thank you to us after we volunteered to do a job and to come back and not have work or looking for work so this a big help,” says Veteran Jerry Vanest.
“I thought that was the least we could do for servicemen,” says Jeff Jackson the Director of Career Services at IUSB. “In honor of what they are doing for our country this is the least I could do.”
This is the first time IU South Bend has aimed part of the career fair toward just servicemen and women.
If you missed Wednesday's fair, you can contact their Career Services Office for information on the employers that participated.
