Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne is cutting jobs to help close an $8.4 million budget deficit.
Chancellor Vicky Carwein has told faculty and staff that 39 full-time and two part-time positions will be eliminated through layoffs and attrition by the end of June.
The Journal Gazette and WPTA-TV reported Tuesday that administrators expect the job cuts to save $2.2 million. Other savings will come through a 2 percent tuition increase next fall, a pay freeze and cuts in activities, utilities and services.
IPFW has said the shortfall stems state funding shortfalls and much lower enrollment last fall.
