A minister told hundreds of people gathered at a prayer vigil that he believed good would somehow come out of the death of a Pendleton man who was caught in a hail of gunfire aimed at police as he was returning home.

WTHR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/O4qYRY ) that Pastor Jay Harvey led the service Friday evening at Pendleton Christian Church in the community about 25 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

The vigil was held following the shooting death Thursday night of 48-year-old businessman John Neal Shull Jr. Two police officers also were wounded and a police dog was killed.

The gunman was found dead Friday morning of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He has been identified as 59-year-old Kenneth James Bailey of New Castle.
