House fire on SB south side causes minor damage

South Bend, Ind. An afternoon blaze that broke out inside a vacant South Bend home caused only minor damage thanks to the quick work of city firefighters.

Just after 3:30 p.m. Sunday, crews were called out to the 800 block of East Indiana Avenue on South Bend's south side.

Firefighters found flames pouring out of a bedroom in the rear of the boarded-up home and got the blaze under control within ten minutes.

Thankfully, no one was hurt. But the fire did cause more than $6,000 in damage to the structure.

No word yet on a cause.
