Homicide-suicide ruled in Putnam County deaths

A coroner says an autopsy shows a western Indiana man under police investigation and his son both died from gunshot wounds and the father committed suicide.

Putnam County Chief Deputy Coroner Dave Brown told Indiana State Police that 14-year-old Jeremy Boatright died from a single gunshot wound to the head in a homicide and 40-year-old Kevin Boatright also suffered a single gunshot wound.

Toxicology tests are pending and could take up to eight weeks.

State police had no further comment on the autopsies Thursday.

State police say a relative found the two dead Wednesday in their home near Reelsville, about 45 miles southwest of Indianapolis. Detectives had spoken a day earlier to Kevin Boatright about an allegation he had contributed to the delinquency of two girls.
