The housing market is improving in the state, with the Indiana Association of Realtors reporting a 15 percent increase in sales over the 12 months ending in February.

The association says for the first two months of 2013, sales rose 20 percent and now have increased year over year for 20 consecutive months. Real estate agents in greater Indianapolis say sales have spiked so much in some places that people are finding it hard to buy a home. Real estate agents are turning to Facebook and going door-to-door looking for prospective sellers.

Association President Kevin Kirkpatrick says there simply aren't enough houses. The association says the average cost of a home in Indiana is up an average of nearly 5 percent over the past year, from $112,750 to $118,000.
