A push to have city chickens in Hamlet is “clucking” along.

According to our reporting partners at WKVI radio, the town board approved an ordinance permitting urban chickens last week.

Residents can have up to six chickens per property. Roosters, ducks and rabbits were not approved.

Anyone living in Hamlet hoping to raise city chickens is encouraged to review the town’s regulations before buying the birds.

To read the rules, simply stop at the town hall building.

South Bend passed a similar movement in March.
