Police say an 11-month-old Indianapolis girl has been released from a hospital after being left alone in a car in a shopping mall parking lot while the outside temperature reached an estimated 95 degrees.

Noblesville Police spokesman Lt. Bruce Barnes says the girl has been released to the custody of her father pending an investigation by Child Protective Services.

The girl's mother, 31-year-old Poojah Harshit Thakkar, has been arrested on a preliminary charge of child neglect. She's being held in the Hamilton County Jail in Noblesville on $5,000 bond. It's not clear if she has an attorney.

Barnes says officers found the child in the back seat of the car with a window slightly rolled down.

A 4-month-old Greenfield girl died this month after being left in a hot car.
