There was a big traffic disruption on I-80 between South Bend and Chicago on Tuesday afternoon, the responsible party – a horse named Geraldo.
Indiana State Police shut down eastbound I-80 in Lake County around 4:30 because of a horse on the loose.
Geraldo wandered onto the highway, and two passersby kept him company until police could get traffic stopped.
Geraldo is a parade horse and unfortunately did get some cuts and bruises in his interstate escape. But police are thanking the thoughtful drivers who kept him from getting spooked by the fast-moving traffic.
