Police say a Fort Wayne man is undergoing a mental health evaluation after holding officers at bay with a crossbow and a knife for about three hours.
The Journal Gazette and WANE-TV report the man surrendered early Sunday morning.
Police say the 30--year-old man threatened people inside the house and said he intended to kill himself. Police say the man claimed to have a gun, but no gun was found after the standoff ended about 3:30 a.m. The man also reportedly threw fireworks at the officers surrounding the house.
Two people escaped the house as police arrived about 12:30 a.m. Several nearby homes were evacuated while police negotiated the man's surrender.
No one was injured.
