A kitten that suffered burned paws and had its whiskers scorched off in a deliberate burning is now ready for adoption.
The six-month-old cat named Sparkle was recently released by New Haven Pet Hospital to a private foster home where she'll live until she's adopted.
A 22-year-old Fort Wayne man was charged in August with animal cruelty and other charges alleging that he dropped the cat into a fire.
The News-Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/SVcC4i ) that adoption profiles for Sparkle will be accepted next Monday and Tuesday.
Because so many people have expressed an interest in adopting Sparkle, a lottery system will be used to select an adoption candidate for the cat. The shelter will select two alternates in case the first candidate declines the adoption.
