Former jail guard pleads guilty to trafficking with inmate, misconduct

St. Joe Co., Ind. A former St. Joe County Jail guard, who found himself behind bars after he was accused of stealing from an inmate, won't be going to trial.

Trevor Reynolds, 27, pleaded guilty Thursday in court to trafficking with an inmate and official misconduct.

As part of the plea agreement, two counts of theft and another count of official misconduct were dismissed.

The investigation into Reynolds' misdeeds began after a former inmate reported that his debit card hadn't been returned to him.

Officials traced transactions made on the card to an ATM and a Meijer. Still photos from the bank ultimately led police to Reynolds, who was arrested in late March.

Sentencing is set for Sept. 25.
