St. Joseph County, Ind. A former St. Joe County Jail guard who found himself on the wrong side of the law has learned his punishment for stealing from an inmate.
Trevor Reynolds, 28, was sentenced today to one year behind bars after he admitted to trafficking with an inmate and official misconduct.
As part of a plea agreement, two counts of theft and another count of official misconduct were dismissed.
Reynolds was also ordered to pay more than $550 in restitution which will be taken from his bond.
The investigation into Reynolds began after a former inmate reported his debit card hadn't been returned.
Officials traced transactions made on the card to an ATM and a Meijer.
Still photos from the bank ultimately led police to Reynolds, who was arrested in late march.
