Former Elk. mayor running for city council

The city of Eklhart’s former mayor, Dave Miller, is now making a run for a spot on city council.

According to the Elkhart Truth, Miller announced he was planning on running to fill councilman Kyle Hannon’s seat when Hannon leaves to become President of the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce.

Because Hannon is leaving before his term expires, the Republican party chairman in Elkhart will have to schedule a caucus of precinct members representing the city. That caucus will then select the candidate to fill Hannon’s seat until the next election in 2015.

Miller served as at-large councilman from 1995 until his election to the mayor’s office in 2000. He went on to serve two terms as Elkhart Mayor until 2007, when he decided not to seek a third term and to enter the private sector instead.

He has worked as vice president of sales and marketing at Horizon Transport in Wakarusa, and most recently has been doing consulting and contract work to the RV industry.
